Summer shutdown 2011
Reactor crane was replaced during the summer shutdown. The company GIGA Ltd. was general supplier. New crane substantially simplifies manipulations with vertical channels and control rods during reactor core reshuffling.
Now tests and setting up of experimental devices for new university term are in progress.

Spring on the Reactor VR-1
During March, several technical visits for high school students were made. Further, the reactor time was occupied by measurements for students' theses were performed as well as by regular education of students from the Faculty of Nuclear Engineering of CTU. In the last two weeks of March was held the course for International Atomic Energy Agency organized for participants from Sudan and the Philippines. In April, students of CTU took regular lessons and a course for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Brno University of Technology was held. In late April was held regular course for the Training Centre of CEZ Company. May is at our site dedicated to the preparation and implementation of the so-called Basic Critical Experiment. Within the experiment students of 4th year can design and calculate their own reactor core configuration and then they are actively involved in putting the reactor into a critical state.
